XXIV Old Buildings welcomes Steven Reed as a new member

February 1, 2022

XXIV Old Buildings is delighted to welcome Steven Reed as a new member from 1 February 2022.

Steven, called in 2005, has a thriving practice in commercial litigation, including all aspects of banking, finance and credit and financial services disputes, commercial fraud disputes and company disputes. He particularly relishes trial advocacy, including in the context of high-value, high-stakes commercial litigation such as the well-known Fundo Soberano de Angola litigation in which he represented the first defendant. In recent years the legal directories have said of him that “He goes above and beyond, he lives and breathes each case” and that he is “a formidable advocate and one of those barristers who speaks the judge’s language.”

Alan Steinfeld QC, Head of Chambers, said “Steven’s particular skill and experience as a trial advocate should make him a great fit with the existing expertise at XXIV Old Buildings. In recent years, as well as cementing our first-class reputation in chancery litigation, our members have continued to grow their reputation in leading commercial litigation. We look forward to this continuing further with Steven on board.”

Paul Horsfield, Head of Clerking, said “We are delighted that Steven has joined chambers. As we embark on several strategic projects, his arrival adds further strength and depth to our already established group of excellent counsel. Exciting times ahead!”

Steven said “It is great to be joining such a fantastic set of barristers with such a strong reputation in commercial litigation as well as chancery disputes. I am looking forward to growing both my commercial disputes practice and my broader business and property disputes practice at XXIV Old Buildings with the support of their particularly energetic and dynamic practice management team.”

Please contact Paul Horsfield, Head of Clerking at XXIV Old Buildings, or Perry Brown or Tommie Drury, Steven’s new Practice Managers, for more information or to enquire about instructing Steven.
