Nicole Langlois has been appointed as the Jersey Law Commission’s Commissioner for Commercial Law, for a term of three years commencing in 2026. She was appointed through an open and transparent recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission, and her appointment was made on the recommendation of the Chief Minister and approved by the States of Jersey Assembly.
About The Jersey Law Commission
Now in its 30th year, the Jersey Law Commission is an independent advisory body that reviews the laws of Jersey and recommends reforms to keep the law clear, modern and effective. A key stakeholder in Jersey’s law reform, the Commission works closely with the Government of Jersey and the States Assembly.
Charlotte Brambilla, Chair of the Jersey Law Commission, comments that “the need for an independent, expert advisory body to support the Government of Jersey in ensuring that its laws remain fit for purpose is, if anything, even more compelling today. About Nicole Langlois
Nicole Langlois brings to her role as a Law Commissioner extensive experience in complex international commercial litigation and advisory work. She is a dual-qualified Jersey Advocate and English barrister. Her main areas of specialisation are contentious trust matters, company and shareholder disputes, contract claims and professional negligence with a particular focus on cases which have a multi-jurisdictional aspect. Nicole is often instructed to provide expert evidence on Jersey law for use in foreign proceedings and also regularly appears before the Jersey courts. She is recognised for her clarity of analysis, strong courtroom advocacy, and ability to navigate intricate commercial arrangements with precision. Her dual experience in contentious and advisory commercial work positions her well to support the Commission’s mandate to modernise Jersey’s commercial law landscape.
