Michael Black KC and Steven Thompson KC recognised by The Legal 500 Arbitration Powerlist: Middle East 2023

Michael Black KC and Steven Thompson KC have been selected for inclusion in The Legal 500 Powerlist 2023 for Arbitration (Middle East). The publication canvasses opinions from leading arbitrators, arbitral institutions, and general counsel active in the market to highlight the region’s leading practitioners.

In 2022, Michael Black KC was appointed as a Judge at the DIFC Court of Appeal and Judge in charge of the Digital Economy Court (DEC). Michael continues to accept appointments as arbitrator outside the DIFC and instructions in arbitration-related matters as counsel in the English and Commonwealth courts.

Steven Thompson KC is registered (under Part II) to appear in the Dubai International Financial Centre, with full rights of advocacy.  He was involved in many of the leading cases on jurisdiction in the DIFC, including the conduit jurisdiction cases both at first instance and on appeal.  He is one of a very few English barristers who has conducted a full trial in the Court of First Instance.
