XXIV welcome Stephen Cogley QC

May 23, 2016

XXIV Old Buildings are delighted to announce the imminent arrival of Quadrant Chambers’ commercial heavyweight Stephen Cogley QC to Chambers. Stephen, one of 6 barristers to be named in The Lawyer Hot 100 for 2015, has a thriving high profile practice across a range of commercial matters with formidable experience in commercial litigation, banking, financial services, insolvency and restructuring. His broad practice also includes shipping and insurance and increasingly his cases span more than one area for international clients

Praised by Chambers & Partners UK 2016 for being “a tenacious, punchy and cerebral silk with substantial banking and finance experience”,  Stephen’s skill set and reputation will be a perfect fit and welcome addition to the range of commercial expertise offered at XXIV. Stephen is delighted to be joining, adding that it will provide him with the platform to expand his commercial chancery practice both domestically and overseas. His current claims involve a number of misselling and financial mismanagement matters, ranging from the low millions to many times that sum.  These particularly compliment two of XXIV’s  high profile commercial cases, both named in The Lawyer Top 20 cases for 2016 (Property Alliance Group v RBS and Libyan Investment Authority v Goldman Sachs).

Stephen has practised in all of these areas over the last 12 years at Quadrant but was predominantly tied back to the maritime sector. The move to XXIV gives Stephen the opportunity to practise in these areas across a wider market sector, both domestically and internationally.

Paul Matthews, Senior Practice Manager, would be delighted to discuss Stephen’s practice further. Paul can be contacted on +44 (0)20 7691 2424 or paul.matthews@xxiv.co.uk.
