Tim Koch and James Gamblin are authors of the new chapter on “Trust Protectors” in the recently updated Planning and Administration of Offshore and Onshore Trusts title published by the Bloomsbury Professional Tax and Accounting List.
Tim and James provide an examination of the Protector’s pivotal role in both offshore and onshore trust structures. This insightful chapter explores the scope of a Protector’s powers, duties, and rights, while providing an analysis of the limits that shape the role. They discuss the exercise of Protector Powers, including various constraints, as well as the processes surrounding appointment, removal, and resignation. Essential reading for trustees, advisors, and private wealth professionals, this chapter provides strategic insight into one of the most influential roles in modern trust governance.
