Supreme Court to hear first ever appeal on extent of lawful act duress

On 5 February 2020 The Supreme Court gave Times Travel Ltd permission to appeal in what promises to become the leading case in the law of economic duress.

The Supreme Court will be asked to consider whether acts that are in themselves lawful can nonetheless amount to illegitimate pressure if it forces a contracting party to give up accrued rights. The outcome will shape the law in this difficult area.
