Paul is an experienced manager. He started his career in practice management in 1982 at Erskine Chambers. He joined XXIV Old Buildings in 1986 as a Practice Assistant and has since then been promoted to Practice Manager with direct responsibility for the day to day management of members practices and client relationships.

In his role as Practice Manager Paul heads one of the teams of barristers at XXIV. He works closely with Daniel Wilson and the other members of the practice management team to assist clients in the management of their cases.

Paul is described by the Legal 500 as “faultless” and having “vast experience and an excellent manner with solicitors”. Chambers & Partners comment that XXIV is “one of the better-run sets, and one with incredibly efficient clerks” and instructing solicitors comment that “the clerking is very good. They understand markets outside of London and accommodate them, and they’re a very progressive set” and “I like the clerks there; they’re always very honest over who can do what, particularly Paul Matthews. I’m always very confident that when I pick the phone up, they’ll be very helpful to me”.

Please contact Paul if you require assistance in the selection of a barrister or in respect of any aspect of chambers business.
