James started his career as a junior clerk at XXIV Old Buildings in 2000. After gaining a solid foundation in the various levels of clerking, he was appointed Senior Practice Manager in 2017 and is responsible for managing and promoting the practices of our Junior barristers, including management of diaries, fee negotiation and maintaining and developing client relationships, both in the UK and offshore.
The Legal 500 2019 says James “offers a great service…” and is described in Chambers & Partners 2019 as “really efficient”, “fantastic and very responsive”.
While performing his day to day practice management duties, James was solely responsible for redesigning Chambers’ new website, which went live in September 2016.
James is a member of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks and in 2018 was appointed one of Chambers’ ‘Pro Bono Champions’, as part of an initiative to encourage barristers to take on not-for-profit work.
