The inquest into the Leicester City Football Club helicopter crash has begun, six years after the fatal crash occurred in 2018.

The inquest takes place from Monday 13 January 2025 until Friday 31 January and will take place before H.M. Senior Coroner for Leicester City & South Leicestershire, Professor Catherine Mason, and a jury, sitting at City Hall in Leicester.

The inquest focusses on the catastrophic aviation accident that occurred on 27 October 2018  at Leicester City’s Football Club’s King Power Stadium where Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha (Chairman of Leicester City FC), Eric Swaffer, Izabela Lechowicz, Nusara Suknami and Kaveporn Punpara lost their lives. It takes place after the publication of the UK’s Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) report published in September 2023 highlighted mechanical failure of the tail rotor contributed to the “tragic accident”.

In addition to the inquest, the largest fatal accident claim in English history has been launched in the High Court. The £2.15bn liability claim is being brought against Leonardo S.p.A, the manufacturer of the helicopter.

Bajul Shah is acting alongside Philip Shepherd KC, instructed by Stewarts, for the family of Khun Vichai in the inquest and in the fatal accident claim.
