As a socially responsible business we support numerous charities through charitable giving, fundraising and volunteering initiatives throughout the year.
Our charitable fundraising events are widely supported throughout Chambers such as the Macmillan Coffee Morning and Christmas jumper day in aid of Save the Children. Chambers has for a long time provided a financial donation in lieu of greeting’s cards, previous charities include Action for Children, Havens Hospices, Shelter and Save the Children.
XXIV Old Buildings is a strong supporter of Advocate (the Bar Pro Bono Charity) and has been a silver circle member for a number of years contributing through member donations as well as hosting our annual Charity Quiz, where the proceeds are shared between Advocate and another charity, such as the DEC Appeal in 2023 and 2024, and Havens Hospices in 2025.
We have dedicated pro bono champions within the member and staffing team within Chambers, and individual members are recognised for their pro bono contributions as Pro Bono Champion through their work with Advocate or CLIPS – the Chancery Litigant in Person Scheme.
We are proud to support Advocate as a Pro Bono Patron and we participate in the Bar Council’s Bar Pro Bono week to promote and celebrate the voluntary contributions made by the legal profession to aid in maximising the impact of pro bono and encouraging others to participate.
At XXIV Old Buildings we promote the idea of making pro bono work a part of a barrister’s practice from the very beginning of their career. Working with Advocate, the Bar’s national pro bono charity, our pupils have received training and information sessions on how to contribute.
We actively engage with our local legal community regularly working with several legal charities and organisations and many members give their time to a range of legal organisations and bar associations by sitting on executive committees and panels and providing training.
Each year members and staff of XXIV Old Buildings participate in the London Legal Walk in aid of the London Legal Support Trust which raises funds for free legal services in London and the South East.
We were the first Chambers to be corporate partners of the Fraud Advisory Panel a charitable organisation which seeks to education to the counter-fraud community to enhance awareness and deter fraud and financial crime.
