Philip Shepherd QC, Bajul Shah and Erin Hitchens instructed on $285m claim for Zamin Group companies against ENRC

This action, which is due to be heard in the Commercial Court in London in February 2016, arises out of the non-payment by ENRC of the price of shares in a company owning and operating the Pedra Del Ferro iron ore mine in Brazil. It will test the ambit of the illegality defence which is due to be reviewed in the Supreme Court in early 2016 in Patel v Mirza in which Philip is also instructed – see https://xxiv.co.uk/legal/item/723.
